5 Initiating Phase – Activities and Artefacts

The first phase of a EUPM² Guide project is the Initiating Phase. It begins with the identification of a project idea, following the publication of the call for proposal, contributing to achieve both an objective set in the EU-funding Programme as well as an organisation’s strategic objective. The main purpose of this phase is:

Key artefacts

The key project artefacts created during the Initiating Phase are the Project Submission Request and the Project Fiche. Some of the Project Logs are also set up (i.e., Risk Log, Issue Log, Decision Log) while the Change Log is typically set up during the Planning Phase (Designing stage).

Artefact Description
Project Submission Request Formalises the project initiation and includes the key data from the call for proposals and the key elements of the project idea.
Project Fiche Describes the project idea, the relevance to the call for proposal, including expected objective, and preliminary estimation of work, time and cost.
